StateBarWatch Is Investigating (former) Judge Edward Avadenka's relationship with a man that Federal Judge Paul Gadola labeled "an illegal scalper dressed up as a legitimate businessman."

StateBarWatch Is On AvadenkaWatch....

The Detroit Free Press recently reported that Judge Avadenka has been a "longtime client" of a man that a federal judge labeled "an illegal scalper dressed up as a legitimate businessman."  Even more shocking, it was reported that Avadenka testified on behalf of the scalper, saying "He does a good job" and "I don't see anything wrong with it."  (click here to see the article)

We are in the process of pulling the court file and reviewing the documents.  If you have any information about about this troubling news article, please contact StatebarWatch.

Other AvadenkaWatch Events:

In January, 2001, StateBarWatch helped to expose Judge Avadenka when he used the prestige of his judicial office to advance the business interests of his friend, (former) State Bar of Michigan President Thomas Ryan. Click here to see the evidence.

In August, 2004, StateBarWatch asked the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission if it is permissible for a Michigan judge to be an owner of a legal services corporation.  Click here for more.  Shortly after our communication to the Judicial Tenure Commission, Judge Avadenka's company was dissolved.  Click here to see the evidence.  Click here for a State Bar of Michigan ethics opinion that discusses Canon of Judicial Conduct 5.C(2).  ("This language is clear and unambiguous.  A full time judge may not serve as director of any business, with or without compensation.  The prohibition is absolute.")

In October, 2005, StateBarWatch opened a corruption investigation into the State Bar of Michigan after it decided to print a highly questionable advertisement of Judge Edward Avadenka. Did the State Bar permit Avadenka to print an advertisement, in violation of its own ethics opinions, because of Avadenka's ties to the State Bar of Michigan?  Click here for more.

Judge Edward Avadenka keeps StateBarWatch investigators busy. If you know of any information about Judge Edward Avadenka, please contact us.
